Safeguarding and child protection at The Lighthouse is a vital element of our daily practice and includes
Protecting children from: maltreatment, the impairment of children’s health or development, ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care, taking action to enable all children to have the best possible outcomes and protecting specific children who are suffering, or are at risk of suffering significant harm.
At the Lighthouse keeping children safe is of paramount importance and whilst certain activities may present some associated risks, our Early Years Educators endeavour to closely supervise and engage to ensure all goes according to plan. Risk assessments are carried out on all activities both indoors and outdoors and children are always aware of boundaries and expected behaviour to always ensure their safety. We believe that taking age-appropriate risks help children to construct their self-belief and grow with confidence and resilience, equally, as they overcome challenges by partaking in accessible activities, they are given opportunities to experience new interests, solve problems and work and engage together whilst being supported and supervised effectively from our qualified Early Years Educators.
We monitor and maintain health and safety with clear policies and procedures about all aspects of health and safety. All rooms and equipment used by children have regular checks to ensure that everything is working well and is safe. We identify potential hazards and take appropriate risk assessments.
